California Child Abuse Mandated Reporting
It's the "Law"

Why you must report:
Because it is the law
to protect the child and to provide help for the parets

To whom you must report
To a "child protective agency" or
County welfare Despartment, or
Probation Department, or
Police or Sheriff's department

What, When, and How to report:
Report suspected abuse by phone immediately to an appropriate agency
Submit a written report within 36 hours

Safeguards for Reporters:
Reporters are immune from criminal or civil liability for reporting as required

Child Abuse includes:

  • Physical injury inflicted non-accidentally on a child
  • Child sexual abuse, both assaulty and exploitation
  • Wiilful cruelty or unjustified punishment , including mental suffering (emotional abuse)
  • Corporal punishment or injury resulting in a traumatic condition
  • Neglect: "general" or "severe"
